Bacillus phage isolation
This project had multiple objectives. On the one hand, we aimed to find out whether the viral diversity associated mainly with Bacillus subtilis is greater than previously known and assumed. In doing so, we had both the organismal and genomic diversity in mind. On the other hand, it enabled us to isolate our own phage strains which we could use as model systems for further studies.
Status: This project was usually addressed within the framework of student work, such as Bachelor and Master Theses. At the moment, we do not plan to further isolate phages. However, we acquired many strains during previous attempts, which need to be characterised and published. If you are interested in such a project, please contact us.
